Photographing portraits and personalities

Finding myself as a photographer has been really challenging, and is an ongoing process. I really want my images to show my style, and just like any other photographer I want people who sees my images to know that this is indeed noe of my images.

Creating truly unique images however is not something I aim for, as I think we have to accept that we’re never alone about a thought or idea. Everything we create is something that is somewhat inspired by something we have seen somewhere else. There is a difference though between copying someones work and being inspired by it. Looking at other peoples images, being inspired by what other creatives create, is mandatory to be able to find your own style, or voice for that matter.

Lately I have been working with finding my style when I photograph people. It’s a work in progress, and the progress is kind of slow. I find it most terrifying to ask people to show me who they are in a one-to-one photoshooot. It’s such an intimate thing to be photographed, you kind of have to peel of a layer and make yourself voulnerable to the photographer, and I have great respect for the situation. Photographing more candid images is something I’m way more comfortable with. It’s so much easier to just be a fly on the wall and work from there.

I’m sharing some exciting news with you guys next week. But for noe I’m going to leave you with some images of some of the wonderful people I have photographed lately. I wish you all the very best of weeks! And to my Norwegian readers; Gratulerer med dagen i morgen! Husk å spise nok is og pølser! Hurra!
