This Christmas we spent at P-garden in Fausadalen. My mothers husband grew up here, and I’ve written a lot about Fausadalen before. It’s really amazing to get to spend time in P-garden, and I get a special calm feeling when we are there. It’s so silent and you can really feel like you’re the only one in the world when on a short hike from the house.
It was the first time since 1962 that anyone celebrated Christmas in P-garden. That year the family moved to their new house in Stranda, and even though it has been talked about many times, one just hasn’t come around to spend Christmas there.
I don’t have signal in Fausadalen, as my mobile network doesn’t deliver signals there. So it has been a week and a half more or less offline, and I really enjoyed it. Outside the winter storms prevented us from spending as much time skiing and playing in the snow as we may have wanted, but we had a lot of fun and games inside instead. When “Urd” (the “extreme” weather) hit we lost the power for a couple of hours, and spent the time playing the boardgame “Ticket to ride” lit by flashlights and headlights. It was really nice and reminded me of the new years hurricane when I was little.
This Christmas was also my sons first Christmas that he just might remember, and he was a really happy little kid getting so much attention, cookies, “pinnekjøtt” (Christmas dinner from western Norway) and presents. I think he’s had the time of his life with us all spending so much time playing with him.
So, to sum up; Christmas has made us feel blessed. And when we got back home last night and got the great feeling of being back home, we felt even more blessed. It’s a really nice feeling, the one of feeling home. It holds so much.
Now i’m looking forward to shooting a lot of images over 2017 and sharing quite a few of them with you. Hope you all enjoyed your holidays and feel ready to embrace the new year! Make it count!
