My review of 2025 was supposed to be a video. The rough cut is done, and I finished it by wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. But I never got to make the finishing touches and posting it. There just wasn’t time. So I decided to write a blogpost. Setting aside time to review a year that was probably one of the busiest in my life.
And here I am, sitting in an almost empty office trying to jot down some words about the last year. Feeling a bit overwhelmed by both what we’re leaving behind and what lies ahead. And I can’t help but wonder; how did we get through the last year?
The year of big projects
As I mentioned in my first post of 2025, we knew that the year would be one of big projects. The biggest one being our house build off course. And building a house has taken a lot of time and energy. We’ve all heard the stories about families falling apart in the process because of all the chaos that comes along with a project like this. We’re not one of those families, but that does not mean it hasn’t been stressful.
We’ve tried our best to juggle every task with the responsibilities as parents and employees, butI feel like I haven’t been able to do anything to a 100%. To be honest I think reviewing my accomplishments as both a mum and an employee to 80% would be a stretch for 2025.
However the house is almost ready for us to move in. We are currently moving out of the house we’ve lived in for the last 10 and a half years, and we’re so happy that our efforts this fall to sell this house paid off. It’s no understatement to say that selling was also a big project.
The summer of a decade?
When I sat down to review the images of 2025, in order to make the yearly photo book, one thing stood out to me; we’ve had an amazing summer. Maybe the best summer in a decade. The images are a testament to a proper summer filled with swimming, hiking, exploring and family gatherings. All in beautiful summer weather and temperatures we rarely see around here.
We spent summer nights swimming at my dad’s cabin. Had breakfast on the porch in beaming sunlight. Hiked among the Sunnmøre Alps before cooling down at the pond in Fausa. Celebrated 60th and 70th birthdays of our beloved family members. And more than anything got to spend a lot of quality time together over a few intense weeks of summer vacation.
Even if my review of 2025 is a story of a somewhat chaotic year, what I will remember the most is the great summer. No doubt. And I think those weeks are how we got through the rest of the year.
My favorite images
I didn’t get to prioritize a lot of photography or making a lot of videos in 2025. With at year as busy as that one, something’s got to give. I knew that before we started it, and it’s been fine to put the creative projects to the side most of the year.
However the last few weeks of the year I really felt like I need to get back at it. I need the outlet, and I need the project that is just mine. And right now I can’t wait to move in to my new office nook in the new house. I’m so ready to plan new photo walks and make more videos again. To get a fresh start, but at the same time continue the creative project that is to show you the world the way I see it.
I did manage to capture a few images worth sharing in 2025, though. And I’m going to end my review of 2025 with sharing a few of them.
I hope 2026 is treating you well so far. I’m grateful for each and every one of you that is sticking around, even if it’s been a silent year from me.
All the best,
Tonje
